Last week (in mid-June) an urgent meeting took place in the bureau of the Quds Force in Lebanon's commander, Hassan Mahdavi (Imad Mughniyah's replacement) in Lebanon. The meeting was also attended by Hassan Nasrallah's envoy, senior Iran Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) officials and Leader Ali Khamenei's envoy, who had arrived in Lebanon especially, intending to stay a short time, given the riots in Iran.

The meeting took place because of a directive received from the Leader's bureau that Quds Force assassination experts, residing outside Iran, are to be exploited for implementing the plan of the Conservative camp and the leadership to assassinate senior Reformist camp officials, who are fomenting the riots and undermining the regime's stability.

In order to act swiftly and efficiently, it was decided at the meeting, that a squad of five operatives involved in ongoing activity in Lebanon, were to be transferred urgently to Iran. According to a source in Lebanon, the operatives have now arrived safely in Iran and are "began to work".

The operatives arrived in Lebanon by flight and the weapons arrived by a special diplomatic Iranian mail deliveries which arrived from Lebanon. The weapons originating from Lebanon, designed to distance Iran from the incident once it came under an investigation.

It was also decided at the meeting that another squad would leave Lebanon in the next few days. This squad, which successfully evaded the Azerbaijani authorities, consists of three operatives. At the meeting, it was said that the Azerbaijan arena was "burnt out" given the incriminating media disclosures about the activities in the region of the IRGC and Hizballah, who had planned to mount a massive terrorist attack in Baku.

Hence, the operatives could not be returned to action in Azerbaijan and would be put to better use in assassinating the regime's dissidents. Notwithstanding the transfer of assassination squads to Iran, it was decided to leave several squads to act at various overseas locations, especially in Iraq and Lebanon.

The activities and presence of these squads was defined as crucial. Iraq was said to be a key arena, where a fairly large number of Quds Force combatants should remain, especially senior assassination experts.

In addition to the three assassination targets determined in advance, on whom we have no information, the complete "assassination list" has not been finalized so far. It was learnt from a source who is closely associated with the Leader's bureau and who is supporting the riots that there are serious deliberations regarding the various figures to be assassinated and the need to assassinate them. As part of the deliberations, there is concern that the assassination of senior figures, who symbolize the Reformist camps'struggle, may foment the riots and create an opposite effect.
