Imprisonment of a Baha’i Citizen in Sanandaj

Zabihollah Raoufi, a Baha’i citizen residing in Sanandaj County has been sentenced to one year imprisonment with exile to Minaab County.

Following his summon to the Revolutionary Court on 19 August 2009, he was later arrested in the same location and is still in detention. The exact date of his court hearing is not clear, but it is known that his trial was held without presence of a lawyer or official judicial procedure. According to the declared verdict, he is sentenced to one year imprisonment with exile to Minaab prison.

During the recent days, 18 Muslim friends and acquaintances of Mr Raoufi have been summoned to Sanandaj Intelligence Office and have committed not to socialize with Zabihollah Raoufi’s family.
