10 Years Imprisonment for Nader Karimi & Arash Torrabi

Nader Karimi, Journalist, Was Sentenced to 10 Years In Prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran. HRANA – Citizen’s Rights, Thoughts and Speech: Nader Karimi Jooni, detained journalist, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Thoughts and Speech Unit of HRA reports that Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Moghiseh, convicted Mr. Nader Karimi Jooni, detained journalist, of acting against national security, conspiracy and spying and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. Mr. Karimi contested the sentence, calling the conviction devoid of evidence and political in nature. Karimi Jooni, previously chief editor and journalist for publications such as “Gozaresh”, “Fekr”, “Jahane Sanat” and “Siyasate Rooz”, was moved to the notorious Section 209 of Evin prison upon his arrest in late November of 2008. He was previously detained twice due to his press activities and is in need of constant medical supervision due to the injuries that he bravely sustained during the Iran-Iraq war.
Arash Torrabi, Former Employee of the Presidential Office, Was Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison by the Revolutionary Court. HRANA – Citizen’s Rights, Thoughts and Speech: Arash Torrabi was given a 10 year suspended prison sentence by the Revolutionary Court. The Thoughts and Speech unit of HRA reports that Arash Torrabi, former employee of the Presidential Office, who was arrested on charges of spying 16 months ago, was informed of the court’s judgment, which had been held earlier, at the Revolutionary Court of the City of Tehran yesterday. In the rendered judgment, Mr. Torrabi has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for espionage. He has contested the court’s judgment.
