6 Men and 1 Woman Executed Since November 14, 2009

Two young men were hanged in the prison of Hamedan, western part of Iran, reported the state run Iranian news agency ISCA news on November 14. The men were identified as Habib (21) and Mohammad (age not mentioned) and were convicted of rape and murder of a 9 years old girl identified as Zinat in 2008, according to the report.

One man was hanged in public in the northern Iranian city of Ghaemshahr on November 15. Reported the Iranian daily newspaper Kayhan. The man was identified as "A. B." (24) and was sentenced to death in 2007, convicted of raping a woman according to the report. The man was hanged in public, near "Velayat" square of Ghaemshahr. Mahmood

One woman and two men were hanged in central Iran in the prison of Isfahan on November 17. Reported the Iranian daily newspaper Kayhan. According to the report those executed were: Vahid Sh. (35) convicted of buying and keeping 143 grams crack (narcitics), Rasoul T. (age not mentioned) convicted of being involved in keeping 2 kg crack and Begam P. (woman, age not mentioned) onvicted of using narcotics and smugling 500 grams crack in her stomach.

One man was hanged in the prison of Bojnord (northeastern Iran) reported the state run Iranian news agency ISNA. The man who was 23 years old and not identified by name, was charged with robbery and rape according to the report. No further details about the exact time of the execution was revealed in the report.

Amiry-Moghaddam, spokesperson of Iran Human Rights said:" We strongly condemn excessive use of death penalty by the Iranian authorities". He added: "Today’s public hanging in Ghaemshahr was also an insult and act of terror against the public."
