Two Students Indicted for Waging War Against God

Two brothers, Roozbeh and Ramin Tehrani, both of them students, were indicted today by a court for waging war against God. The brothers were arrested in June 2009 and have been detained since. Prisoners’ rights unit of HRA reports that Roozbeh and Ramin Tehrani were both arrested on June 9th 2009 for their activities during the 2008-2009 school year. Three weeks ago after being detained for a few months in Ward 209 of Evin, they were transferred to Ward 8 of the same prison. The brothers appeared in court today.

Ramin and Roozbeh appeared in District 26 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Pour-Abassi, for their first hearing. The indictment, read by the representative of the prosecutor accused the brothers of waging war against God and propaganda against the regime. The defense lawyers, Ms. Manijeh Mohammadi and Messier Soltani and Meshkati asked for an extension to give them time to prepare. Judge Pour-Abassi granted the lawyers’ request and the trial was postponed.
