Human Rights Activists in Iran

More than 44 days have passed since Arash Sadeghi was arrested. He is a member of the Young Wing of Islamic Iran's Cooperative Party and an active member of Mir Husayn Mousavi's election campaign.

Since his arrest, his conditions remain vague and unknown. Sadeghi's family's frequent inquiries from government organizations, including the Revolutionary Court, Evin prison, and other security offices, have proven unproductive thus far. This political activist was arrested in his home without a warrant or a court order.

To date, he has not contacted his family, and his whereabouts are unknown. Many of those arrested on (June..., 2009) had been transferred to Kahrizak. The possibility of Sadeghi's transfer to Kahrizak prison has added to the families concerns and preoccupations regarding his health and well being. Although Kahrizak was closed, due to what was stated as substandard conditions, the whereabouts of those arrested and kept at Kahrizak prior to its closing remain unknown.
